It was a tough call, but the 4th of July fireworks have been cancelled in Steamboat.  Conditions have dried out considerably in our area and fire bans are now in effect.  With fire fighting resources already being spread thin throughout other parts of the State, that are in even worse shape than Routt County, it was felt that the fireworks show posed too much risk.  However, all is not lost.  The City Council scrambled and was able to put together a last minute contract with a laser show company... read more

Construction Continues on Yampa St.

Wildfire Danger

The wildfire threat in Routt County is high but it has not yet reached to the level or restrictions being enforced.  There are seven criteria and four have to be met before Stage 1 restrictions will be in place.  Right now, only one criteria has been met.  The regional fire directors meet each week to reevaluate.  For more details and information, click here.... read more
